NJ Medical Librarians Offer
Supplemental Resource Services.
Many member hospital libraries of the
Health Sciences Library Association of NJ (HSLANJ) provide supplemental
reference services to public, school, academic and special libraries using
their specialized expertise and resources to answer medical and health
related questions.
A list of member libraries that provide this
service may be found on the HSLANJ website at
http://www.hslanj.org/hslanjpublic.html. Libraries are listed by
county. Those marked with an asterisk will handle inquiries from any
library in the state. A click on the link for the name of the organization
provides contact and descriptive information about the library.
If
you have questions about this service, contact one of the libraries on the
list of participants, or contact Micki McIntyre at the UMDNJ Health Sciences
Library in Stratford (856-566-6936 or

Effective August 1, 2005,
SJRLC will no longer provide free access to the EBSCO AltHealthWatch database
for SJRLC members. AltHealthWatch was both the lowest use database and
the lowest rated (of those we subsidize) on the SJRLC member survey. At the same
time we know that some of you still value this source. Discounted pricing is
available for individual library subscriptions. See:
www.sjrlc.org/discounts/ebsco
We have been able to extend our subscription for
access to NOVELIST readers’ advisory service to include two-year
colleges. For information on NOVELIST, see
www.epnet.com/public/novelist.asp.
NOVELIST is now available at no cost to Public Libraries
(through State Library contract), as well as school and two-year college
libraries (SJRLC funding). We will be contacting two-year colleges
directly for set-up and putting out additional information on the listserv for
those who wish to establish direct links from individual library home pages.
