New Jersey Knowledge Initiative Updates From: Susan Kaplan
Please note: RefUSA contract is completed and it will be available via IP authentication and on JerseyClicks shortly Knowledge Initiative Access
All Knowledge Initiative contracts require
vendors to offer either refunds or credits to existing subscribers for the
UNUSED portion of their subscription for the identical content.
Please contact the vendor for more information. The New Jersey State Library is happy to announce the startup of the New Jersey Knowledge Initiative (http://njki.njstatelib.org). Because statewide Knowledge Initiative contracts are expensive and complex, the contract and licensing process is lengthy. Still, we expect implementation in early April.
We have accepted bids and moved into the
contract process with two database vendors so far:

biotechnology, cancer, cell biology, drug discovery, genetics, immunology,
medicine, molecular cell ular biology, neuroscience, and structural
biology.

a) Desktop access for library staff, faculty, and students of 48 VALE
colleges and universities; State Library staff and state agency employees;
selected small biotech and high-tech startup companies (ex. tenants of
business incubator campuses), and b) walk-in access for the public at 48
academic libraries.
Negotiations continue with other
database vendors and the full selection will be announced when it becomes
final. A new website is under construction, that will provide detailed
